Gov. Pat Quinn

Gov. Pat Quinn

Previously elected three times to statewide office, Pat Quinn was the sitting lieutenant governor and became governor on January 29, 2009, when the previous governor, Rod Blagojevich, was impeached and removed from office. Quinn was elected to the office during the 2010 election to serve his first full term as Governor. By custom and tradition dating back to Gov. Joel Matteson in 1854, the elected governor of Illinois is always treated as the honorary president of the Illinois State Society of Washington, DC and many governors have attended Illinois State Society events in DC over almost 160 years for parties in their honor, inaugurations, and other special events.
