1981 Princess Susan Carol Strom
Carol's reception in April 1981 was sadly a somber affair. She was supposed to be crowned at an Illinois State Society Thursday reception by White House Press Secretary James Brady. But both Brady and President Reagan were wounded by a gunman on the opening day of the Cherry Blossom Festival at the Washington Hilton Hotel.
