Memorial Day in 2013 at Logan's Tomb

Sailors from the USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72) help present the Illinois State Society wreath at the tomb of Gen. John A. Logan on Monday, May 27, 2003.  Gen. Logan was he founder of Memorial Day when he issued General Order Number 11 in 1868 when he was the Commander of the Grand Army of the Republic veterans organization.  Photo courtesy of U.S. Navy.
