U.S.S. Illinois (SSN-786) Goes to Sea in 2015

At right Sen. Mark Kirk of illinois talks with Commander Jess Porter and Chief of the Boat David C. DiPietro at the annual Illinois Statehood Day event on Dec. 3, 2014. The new submarine will be the first Navy vessel named for Illinois to put to sea in more than 100 years. The new sub will have sea trials in November of 2015 and is scheduled to be commissioned at the end of 2015. See more information at www.ussillinois.org.
